The IoT Tea Cosy 2015
The IoT Tea Cosy is an experiment in object to object communication. This wifi enabled tea cosy connects my fathers tea cosy in Ireland with my 1950's Teasmade in Wales. This project was developed to help my technophobic father who lives independently to stay connected with family. The tea cosy has an embedded heat sensor and wifi shield, once heated the tea cosy sends a tweet which in turn switches on a wemo switch which illuminates a Teasmade, giving me a visual signal that my father is about to have a cup of tea. This means I know he is available to phone on the landline which is still his preferred mode of communication.
