Things Men Have Made 2013
Things Men Have Made is an AR interactive piece using a gold replica jug as a physical augmented reality marker. The viewer is invited to handle the replica, the handling activates an embedded film of experienced makers handling the original artefact. Live feed and embedded feed work simultaneously to provide the viewer/handler with an immersive haptic experience of the original jug through the gold replica. The video shows initial attempts with object recognition software. This piece was created as part of research for a Creative Wales project in new technology's influence on craft practice.
